Probably, you are going to buy a brand new Apple iPhone 15 or an old one from the market, and battery life is on your high priority list. You must want to know which iPhone has the longest battery life that can satisfy all of your needs. In this article, we have compared all the iPhones with their battery life, maximum capacity, size (mAh), health, talk time, video streamed playback, internet Wi-Fi usage time, and video, and audio playback.

We will also compare iPhones’ battery size with other smartphones’ battery life like Samsung Galaxy, HTC, Google Pixel, One Plus, Huawei, and LG smartphones, and will help you find the best smartphone with the largest battery life.

After the release of Apple’s iOS 17, iOS 16, iOS 15, iOS 14, and iOS 13,  users are more curious about the operating system’s various features. Especially, from the iOS 13 Dark Mode which is made to save battery life on the iPhone.

From iOS 13 to iOS 17, the operating systems are super moderated for iPhone battery health and designed to give long-lasting battery life. If you already have an iPhone and you think your device supports iOS 17, then check your device right now and install the newest operating system on your device.

After downloading and installing iOS 17, and you are still searching for how do I stop my iPhone battery from draining so fast then there might be a reason for such apps that have not dark mode enabled and are not updated.

The dark mode saves a lot of battery and increases the iPhone battery’s maximum capacity, health, and lifetime. Because iOS 13 and 14 give you a lot more choices and options to optimize settings to stop draining the battery from your iPhone.

Then I will recommend you delete/uninstall apps from iOS 13 that are outdated and do not support its dark mode. Instead, you should install 150 iOS 13 Apps With Dark Mode That Are Beyond Your Thinking.

But let’s stick to the article:

Preferred Smartphones with Largest Battery Size

We have run web surfing iPhone battery life tests and are going to share these amazing results that will help you to make a better buying decision.

Apple uses video playback as a standard for iPhone battery life. This standard is used for those videos that are stored on iPhone internal storage. The iPhone battery life tests with iPhones vs iPhones and with Android phones are carried out with manual and auto display settings, with turned-on Bluetooth, Mobile Data, Cellular Wi-Fi, and 50% brightness.

It is very difficult to get the accurate number for each iPhone battery life because it depends on various factors like GPS, geographical location, and weak signals that can change the results dramatically. For example, if an iPhone is facing weaker signals, then the device will work harder and consume more battery power to maintain the signal strength.

iPhone 12 Battery Life Comparisons – All Four Models’ Results

We have run the iPhone 12 battery life comparison test on all the new four 12 models and the results are mixed.

The iPhone 12 mini is the smallest in the iPhone 12 group and has the smallest battery runtime over 5G. While the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro lasted longer but did not compete well with the Android phones.

According to the results, the iPhone 12 Pro Max is the best for battery life, and should be your first choice over Android phones. Because the phone doesn’t nearly quite break the 11-hour mark to land on our iPhone battery life Comparison chart.

iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12, and iPhone 12 Pro Battery Test Results VS Other iPhone Models and Android Phones

Let’s first discuss the iPhone 12 Mini battery life result.

iPhone 12 Mini Battery Life Time

The iPhone 12 mini has a 2,227 mAh battery and the phone lasted only 7 hours and 30 minutes on web surfing over 5G. The 5G technology uses more power than 4G.

This is why the iPhone SE (2nd edition) lasted for 9 hours and has a smaller battery of 1821 mAh. The test was taken over 4G which uses less battery power. Overall, iPhone 12 mini battery life is better for those who use less internet and reasonable streaming.

iPhone 12 Battery Life Capacity and Time

iPhone 12 has a 2,815 mAh battery and the smartphone lasted for 8 hours and 20 minutes over 5G network. While the iPhone 11 lasted for 11 hours and 10 minutes using 4G. Over the 4G test, the iPhone 12 lasted for only 10 hours and 15 minutes. That’s strange!

Comparison with Samsung Galaxy S20

Samsung Galaxy S20 –If we talk about Samsung Galaxy phones, they usually give more battery time over 5G, however, they start consuming more power when their screens are set to a 120 Hz refresh rate.

This is why the Samsun Galaxy S20 lasted 9:29 over 5G but near to zero power on 8:02 at 120Hz.

Comparison with Google’s Pixel 5

Google’s Pixel 5 lasted for 9:49 close, an hour better than the iPhone 12. But when we set Google Pixel’s screen to a 90Hz refresh rate it dropped its power to 9:18. Again Android took more battery power edge over iPhone 12 battery life compared to 5G.

iPhone 12 Pro Battery Capacity

iPhone 12 Pro was far better and lasted 9 hours and 3 minutes on 5G networks, and dipped down 11:19 over 4G.

The Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus using a 5G network, lasted 10:29 which is approximately one and a half hours more than the iPhone 12 Pro. However, on 5G, the S20 runtime dipped down to 8:49 at a 120Hz screen refresh rate which seems a bit worse than the iPhone 12 Pro

To be honest, the Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus with 4,500 mAh battery power is the 2nd largest in our comparison test, and the iPhone 12 Pro has 2,815 mAh. You can judge the battery difference and the performance of both.

New iPhone 12 Pro Max Battery Life Capacity

In our iPhone Battery Life Comparison, the last model is the iPhone 12 Pro Max’s 3,687 mAh battery that has left behind all its other three models especially the iPhone 12 Pro with a gap of nearly two hours. It has also beaten Samsung Galaxy S20 and S20 Plus, One Plus, and Google Pixel

The new iPhone 12 Pro Max battery life lasted for 10 hours and 48 minutes using 5G.

While the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra has a bigger 5,000 mAh battery that lasts for 12 hours.

So, if you ask me what is the best iPhone for battery life?

I will suggest you go with the new iPhone 12 Pro Max (3,687mAh).

Apple iPhone 11 Battery Life Comparison Chart

Apple introduced the iPhone 11, 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max on September 20, 2019. They all have some clear differences in terms of hardware and especially the battery life. But you must be curious to know how long each iPhone 11 lasts on a charge.

In our new iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone 11 Pro Max battery test over web surfing, the iPhone 11 Pro Max lasts approximately 1.5 hours longer than the 11 Pro.

Here’s how large the iPhone 11 battery size is!

iPhone 11 is equipped with a 3190 mAh

iPhone 11 Battery Life VS iPhone 11 Pro Vs 11 Pro Max Results VS Other iPhones and Android Phones

IhaveiPhone” has conducted all three models of Apple iPhone 11 battery life test on 150 nits of screen display using 4G LTE, T-Mobile networks over web surfing. The results were amazing on all smartphones. Here’s what we have concluded.

The iPhone 11 Pro Max was the clear winner in our testing, averaging a runtime of 11 hours and 49 minutes. This enabled the 11 Pro Max, the best phone in our battery life list. By comparison, the Galaxy Note 10 Plus lasted an average of 10:39.

Battery Life Test: iPhone 11 Vs 11 Pro

The new iPhone 11 has a 3110 mAh battery while the 11 Pro has a 3046. IPhone 11 has more battery capacity than its subsequent phone.

In our web surfing test, Apple iPhone 11 vs 11 Pro, the iPhone 11 has given 11 hours and 16 minutes while 11 Pro has achieved 10 hours and 24 minutes of battery life milestone. The iPhone 11 has won the test over 11 Pro.

iPhone 11 Pro Vs iPhone 11 Pro Max

If we talk about “iPhone 11 pro battery life hours” then believe me it’s amazing and close to the 11 Pro Max. The 11 Pro Max has the longest battery size 3969 mAh while the 11 Pro has just 3046 mAh capacity.

In our test run over 4G/LTE T-Mobile network with web surfing, the 11 Pro max was given 11 hours and 49 minutes while the iPhone 11 Pro just lasted for 10 hours and 24 minutes.

Battery Life Hours: iPhone 11 Pro Max Vs Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus

We have already mentioned that the iPhone 11 Pro Max has a 3190 mAh battery, while the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus has a 4300 mAh battery capacity equipped with a 25W charger and a 45W charger which is optional.

The Galaxy Note 10 Plus battery life is 10:39 despite having an extra huge battery, which is 1 hour less than the iPhone 11 Pro Max. The 11 Pro Max has left behind the Galaxy Note 10 Plus.

In our web surfing test over 4G/LTE, the Galaxy Note 10 Plus lasted for 11 hours and 35 minutes then we took 4 tests more to ensure the average time and the phone gives us variable web surfing battery lifetime.

The average was 10 hours and 39 minutes. You can see the difference between the Apple iPhone 11 Pro Max’s battery life and the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus’s, the iPhone is consistent and more endurable than the Galaxy.

Apple iPhone 11 VS XR

The iPhone XR has a 2942 mAh battery capacity which is less than the iPhone 11 (3110 mAh). Although, there is a clear gap in the battery size of both phones.

Here, the “I have iPhone” has conducted a battery test with video streaming and the results were not so different.

Here’s what we have concluded in the iPhone XR VS iPhone 11 battery life Comparison test

We have used both phones for 15 days over video streaming and we found that iPhone 11 endures 13 hours and 45 minutes and iPhone XR lasted for 12 hours and 5 minutes.

We again tested both phones for the next 15 days on our web surfing test and we got the results. The iPhone 11 lasts 11 hours and 16 minutes while iPhone XR dipped down to 10:03.

iPhone SE 2 VS New iPhone 11

You’d be probably shocked that the iPhone SE has the smallest 1821 mAh battery capacity in the new iPhones which is far less than the iPhone 11. In the video streaming test, the iPhone XR gives less than one hour of battery life than the iPhone 11.

But if we compare the iPhone SE with iPhone 11 then the results are different. Both phones support Qi-certified wireless charges and charge up to 50% within 30 minutes.

Apple says that the new iPhone SE (2020) gives the same battery life as iPhone 8. In our test iPhone, 8 (approximately 3 years ago) lasted for 9 hours and 48 minutes while iPhone SE 2020 (a year ago) lasted 9 hours and 37 minutes. While the iPhone 11 dipped down to 11:16.

iPhone XS Max VS New iPhone 11 Battery Life Time

iPhone XS Max has a 3174 mAh battery capacity and iPhone 11 has a 3110 mAh. The iPhone XS Max has a little bit of edge (2.06% extra power) over the new iPhone 11 but in our test, both give us approximately the same results.

Apple introduced Gigabit LTE in both phones in 2017 but iPhone XR was left odd out of the update.

iPhone XS Max lasts up to 10 hours and 37 minutes while iPhone 11 lasts up to 11 hours and 16 minutes. There is a difference of only 39 minutes over web surfing.

However, the iPhone XS Max is best for gaming and streaming videos. After its launch, we tested it by playing Asphalt 9 for 30 minutes and the battery only drops to 8% when charged 100%.

We have streamed HDR videos from Netflix for one hour and the battery drops to only 6%. That’s so amazing battery results.

Conclusion

In short, web browsing tests are a good way to compare battery life between phones. Modern smartphones, especially Apple iPhones automatically switch to the battery-saving mode when you aren’t actively using them, which helps.

If you want the longest battery life, consider the iPhone 15 Pro Max, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 13 Pro Max, iPhone 14 Plus or 14 Pro Max. You may also switch to the other iPhone 13, 12, and iPhone 11 series.

Upgrading to iPhone 15 Pro Max is a good option if you prioritize 5G speed over battery life.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs): Comparing iPhones Battery Life

The modern Lithium batteries are killed as many times as your iPhone discharged to zero and charge 100%.Remember they can handle 500 charge cycles if it is kept between 40 to 80 percent remaining charging. For longer performance, the Li-Ion battery manufacturer recommends the battery should be charged when it is left with 40% and 80% rated energy. That’s the 40 – 80 rule.It means you should keep your iPhone’s battery between 40 to 80 per cent all the time and then plug in a charger for better performance. The 40-80 rule keeps the battery cool not cold, not warm.
