AI Takes Center Stage
This year’s WWDC is expected to be heavily focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI). After years of quietly integrating AI into its products, Apple might finally be ready to unveil a slew of next-generation AI tools and technologies. These advancements could include a significantly improved Siri for users and AI-powered code-writing features within Xcode for developers. Apple VP Greg Joswiak even hinted at the focus with his cryptic “#WWDC24 Absolutely Incredible!” post, possibly referencing the initials “AI.”
Keynote Unveils New Operating Systems
The opening keynote, a “Special Event,” is where Apple traditionally showcases its upcoming software updates. This year, expect announcements about iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS 15, tvOS 18, and watchOS 11. Additionally, Apple will likely share the latest progress on visionOS, the operating system designed for its mixed-reality headset, first revealed in 2023. Hardware: A Possibility, Not a Guarantee
While WWDC primarily focuses on software, there’s always a chance for hardware surprises. New iPads might be launched before June, and iPhones and Apple Watches usually debut in September. However, there’s a slim possibility of seeing a Mac Studio upgrade with M3 series chips, budget-friendly AirPods to replace the current models, an M3 Ultra chip for the Mac Pro, or even a “HomePod with a display” – a product that has been generating rumors.
