Apple made an announcement that subscribers of Apple News+ can receive daily sports news from The Athletic, a global source covering hundreds of professional and college sports teams across the top leagues across the world.
The Athletic, which is owned by The New York Times, covers The English Premier League, NFL, NBA, WNBA, NHL, MLS, PGA, National Women’s Soccer League, NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision, NCAA men’s college basketball, NCAA women’s college basketball, LaLiga, UEFA Champions League, among others.
“Like so many lifelong sports fans, I am a devoted reader of The Athletic and their fantastic sports reporting and local coverage,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Services. “We’re so proud to now bring sports fans The Athletic in Apple News+ — which millions of News+ subscribers are going to love.”
Subscribers to Apple News+ in the US have the opportunity to access The Athletic content in the sports category. Additionally, from early next year , all Apple News users will be able to access reviews made on Wirecutter products by NYT.
The Athletic was bought by The New York Times in January 2022 at a price of five hundred and fifty million dollars, thereafter it closed its sports desk in July assuring that some of The Athletic’s content would be integrated with one of its core publications.
The company increased the price of an Apple News + subscription in October, from $9.99 to $12.99 a month. This is the first price raise for the service in November, 2019 since its debut in the united states of America.in their statement to Macrumors, apple said they aimed at enhancing customer experiences by continuously enriching their software products with high-grade entertainment, information and new amazing characteristics.
