Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro could get a shinier look.
According to a recent rumour, Apple might be shaking things up with the design of the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro. A Korean source claims Apple is developing a new way to finish and colour the titanium used in the phone’s body.
This new process is said to give the iPhone 16 Pro a much glossier look, similar to the polished stainless steel finish of older Pro models. While the shine is coming back, there’s good news: the titanium is reportedly less prone to scratches than stainless steel.
The current iPhone 15 Pro has a brushed titanium finish, which makes it less reflective and helps hide fingerprints and scratches. However, Apple is prioritizing a sleeker design this time around.
One benefit of the titanium frame that came with the iPhone 15 Pro was its lighter weight. The iPhone 15 Pro models were about 9% lighter than their iPhone 14 Pro counterparts. This is likely to continue with the iPhone 16 Pro as well. Additionally, Apple claims the titanium frame with an aluminum base improves heat dissipation compared to previous stainless steel models.
Another rumour suggests new colour options for the iPhone 16 Pro – “space black” and “rose” titanium. The rose colour is apparently a gold shade, and space black might replace the current black option. As usual, we can expect the official announcement of the iPhone 16 series sometime in the fall.
