MISC

Review

The iPhone 8 Plus is a bit of a time capsule phone. Released in 2017, it offers a familiar design with the classic home button and Touch ID sensor, a feature some users still prefer over Face ID. While it lacks the fancy edge-to-edge screen of newer models, the 5.5-inch display is still a good size and the bezels provide a comfortable grip. The big selling point is the dual-lens camera. It won’t compete with the latest iPhones on pure megapixels, but it takes crisp, clear photos. The Portrait Mode with Portrait Lighting effects is impressive, especially considering its age. The phone is surprisingly powerful thanks to the A11 Bionic chip, which can easily handle most tasks. However, battery life isn’t the best by today’s standards, and you’ll be giving up on the newest features and software updates.
